I haven't seen the Sea variety (yet) but this story is a Siren.

This is such a masterclass on short fiction - you captured so much, two lifetimes and philosophy in these words.

The images in my head of a gray sea, and the sweet sounds I can faintly hear - it's going to stay with me.

I'm mesmerized.
