I could visualise it, the sign, the shovel and the scowl. I am surprised by the amount of detail you captured in this short story and I was building up more in my head.

Didn't see the ending coming, sad, but I agree it's a nice way to go. In fiction, I've thought of prison as freeing too. Because other endings would be chaos.
