1. I've found it useful to identify what stops me from writing most frequently.

My most persistent and major problem is being disconnected from myself. As I write about myself, the inability to process my feelings makes it impossible to put across a coherent stream of thought. Addressing this head on has helped me out significantly in keeping up with my writing goals.

Here's the detailed version, in the form of an article: https://medium.com/cry-mag/how-to-write-when-you-are-disconnected-from-yourself-1855191145a2

2. Pretend that you are working for a company.

I set goals and deadlines that cannot be moved unless something urgent comes up. I make weekly and monthly reports for my work—nothing fancy, just a simple retrospect. I set a calendar up for every month which highlights what should be accomplished each day. I block out weekends or any other days that I know I wouldn't be working. I keep adjustments and changes to the minimum and try my best to keep up with this.

Changing the way I approach working for myself and applying things I learned at my corporate job has completely revolutionized the way I write.
